There are some benefits if you upgrade to iOS 12 - you can connect an external display while the Tagtool App is running. But you cannot disconnect and/or reconnect while using it.

This issue will be fixed in the upcoming version - the beta version will be available very soon.

Btw. you should post some images in the upcoming Pic of the month thread. Your outfits and artwork look amazing.
